What I'm Up To Now

This is my now page, a quick look at what I’m focused on these days.

Last updated February 2026.

Powersports and Communications

I'm now Vice President of Communications for the Motorcycle Industry Council, Motorcycle Safety Foundation, Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association, and Specialty Vehicle Institute of America. I wrote about my journey from journalism to this role, and it still feels surreal to see how the path unfolded.

My days are filled with media relations, public-facing campaigns, and working to elevate the visibility of motorcycling, ATV riding, and side-by-side driving. I'm also a certified MSF RiderCoach, DirtBike School Coach, ATV Safety Institute Instructor, and ROHVA DriverCoach, so I regularly get to introduce new riders to the sport through training events and media rides.

Motorcycle safety is something I care about deeply. I recently appeared on Dayton 24/7 Now to talk about motorcycle safety awareness, covering everything from protective gear to new safety technologies. As riding season approaches, I'll be doing more of that kind of outreach.

Riding, Competing, and Recovering

The big personal news: I competed at the 8th World Kuo Shu Championship in Brazil and came home with three gold medals and a bronze. I took gold in Ba Gua Long Staff, Xing Yi Long Staff, and women's Yang Style Tai Ji Empty Hand. Competing always brings a mix of anxiety and excitement, but the growth that comes from it is worth every moment.

The Brazil trip was about more than the tournament, though. My friends and I stayed on to explore Sao Paulo, Ilhabela, Santos, and Iguacu Falls. We went whitewater rafting, zip lining, and ate so much churrasco. Some of my favorite meals were the simplest ones: fresh fish and rice in the beach towns.

On the motorcycle side, I'm still riding whenever I can. Last year I did an incredible week-long ride through California on a KTM 390 ADV, covering everything from ocean highways to canyon twisties to off-road trails. I'm already thinking about the next adventure.

I'm also recovering from knee surgery I had in December. That put a dent in my training for a century ride (100 miles in one day on my gravel bicycle), but I'm still hoping to make it happen. Rehab is going well, and I'm staying active with Tai Chi instruction and time outdoors with my two dogs, Turbo (Belgian Malinois) and Diesel (Anatolian Shepherd). Yes, Turbo Diesel. I like what I like.
